Creating Identity, Defining Culture, and Making History from an Art Exhibit

In the article “Creating Identity, Defining Culture, and Making History from an Art Exhibit”, I thought intensely about the stance that Vietnamese Americans are in. In my case, we are like the people in the article: stuck between the extremists and just wanting to keep in touch with relatives in Vietnam. But if there are extremists saying any form of communication into Vietnam is communist, then I am sad. Sad that they are simply narrow-minded. Vietnam may be bad because it is a communist country, but that doesn’t mean you should undermine innocent people for that ideal.
Now I also know there is a fear in Vietnamese to not lose everything again due to communism, just like in the Vietnam War, but we all have to see that this is an internal Vietnamese struggle that has no purpose to fight for, so we need to keep calm and simply amass knowledge and understanding to make a better educated choices to benefit the future Vietnamese community.

Question: Is it a good or bad thing US is currently in relation with communist Vietnam?
