Should the government execute deportation?

Wing Man Lam
ASA 002
Section 001
Week 8

In the article “I am a man with a heart,” Thi describes how he was being a troublesome son and tried to make up for what he had done wrong. He went to jail for several time, but he never learned the lesson and continued to practice stealing.  Until he has been noticed that he would be send back to Cambodia, he finally woke up from the call and became to change his bad habit.
He did not behave in a proper way was not because he could not succeed academically, but because he hung out with bad friends. Just like Thi, many students are talented nowadays but they do not value education as much as their parents do. Some of them practice wrong things like Thi did and end up spending their rest of lives in jail. The difference of a wrongdoing done by a citizen and an immigrant is that immigrant may be threaten to be send back to their homeland while citizen get to stay in the United States.
Many people believe that threatening to deport was too harsh, but I think this action is necessary. For example, without the threatening in this case, Tai might not turned over a new leaf. Indeed, he had been given chances; if he did not take the opportunities that were given to him, he should not blame anybody for this. Although people may think deportation is unfair to immigrants; however, as long as we, as immigrants, do not violate any laws, we will be fine. Because immigrants know that they are in a disadvantage, they are more aware of their actions. As a result, fewer crimes may occur, which the United States may become a safer nation.

Questions: Is there anyway the deportees gain back a chance to reenter the United States? Are they protected by the United States law to ensure that they would not be treated inhumanly?
