A Man with a Heart

In Andrew Thi's "I am a man with a heart", Thi recounts his story in America, having immigrated here at the age of 6. He had exceptional grades throughout school, even under the stress of not being under government financial support and being the only Cambodian at school. But over time, he fell into the wrong crowd and began a life of criminal activity. He was caught stealing cars, served his time in juvenile detention, and got caught stealing another car. Thi lived a double life of succeeding in academics, yet choosing into criminal activity. After suffering through an arduous process of risking deportation, he seems to be turning his life around. Thi became a believer of Christianity, found a girl he loves, and enjoys community service.
Even though he came from an underprivileged background, Thi had lots of potential. He was an honor roll student, participated in prestigious scholar programs, and had the chance to surround himself with success and "escape" poverty. Yet a couple of repeat mistakes even after serving time for them led to many things.
My only question is: What would he have looked like had he not fallen down a dark path of crime?

Thi was faced with both the worlds of academic success and crime, as many Asian Americans are today.
