A Day in the Life

Mike Ngo, A Day in the Life

I wonder why Mike Ngo decided to write this article. Was it to shed light on the prison system? Or was it to share his story and his beliefs of the people in prison? There was one part of the article that got me thinking in particular, "I still don't understand the logic of having to turn away from death-row prisoners who are escorts from one part of the prison to another . . . Maybe the administrators don't want us to see the indestructible human spirit on their faces because the chamber, chair, or needed is useless against such an opponent." I think we're all in systems or programs that are against us, just like prison and Mike Ngo. When those in that system or program see one another and decide to help one another--administrators and their tools are useless. I think solidarity is key to fighting a system that is against you.

When was the last time you "looked away" while someone was victim to the system we're in?

This is a photo of Thich Quang Duc, the"burning monk" that Mike Ngo referred to. Many others followed in his example and these acts are the type that shake the status quo.
