This comic series is one of the few Asian products to have broke through the American pop culture barrier. It reminds me a lot of my own experiences with my immigrant family as it should to many others. If the little girl were to complain about only eating Asian cuisine and not American food, her mother would have asked what was wrong with an Asian family eating Asian food. The stereotypical Asian styled parenting has only recently been exposed to national tv when “Fresh Off The Boat” premiered. When Eddie asked to eat another culture’s food, his mother their Asian culture was in jeopardy. Food, a simple necessity in life, is a defining characteristic for the many Asian ethnicities.
