Nathan Suh
This was a mostly sad piece by Andrew Thi. The awful events of his life are completely his fault. But we can't ignore the environment he was raised in. He grew up in poverty as his family was on govt. support, and with little supervision as his father was extremely busy trying to provide for his family. This seems to be a ripple effect from the Cambodian genocide. Immigrating from a destroyed country is a huge feat. Poverty and minimal supervision/discipline is a horrible mix - either one of those conditions alone is bad enough for anyone to grow up in. One can't excuse his actions, but it's clearly easy to see how a bad environment negatively influences one's choices. My question is where is Andrew now, and how is he doing?
