After reading the article "I am a man with a heart" by Andrew Thi, I thought about the movie "Sentenced Home" that we watched in class. This article and the movie are quite similar in a sense that they both portray the struggles of the Cambodian criminals facing deportation. Andrew Thi is a man with a long past of criminal records and he tries his best to prove that he's changed while he was in prison knowing that he would be deported. Even though I do sympathize with his efforts to change his morality, I still believe in the justice system and that he should be deported for what he has done. It is saddening to see how much money family members spend on bailing their beloved ones out of jail, but they still go back to the same ways of living. Perhaps, deportation could be a best method for those criminals to dwell on their wrongdoings and reflect upon what they have committed. Thus, my question is what are some ways we could help out these immigrant children so that they do not walk on the wrong path of life?
