In this article, it was very interesting to hear different perspectives on the topic of sexuality within the Asian American community. However, it is unfortunate that there are numerous Asian Americans who conceal their homosexuality because their parents consider homosexuality as a failure to live up to the norm of society. Since our parents came from an older generation, they grew up surrounded by traditional customs, however it has progressed into a custom that they think their children should also follow. As a female individual, it was difficult to read how women were presumed to be less superior to men in the past. I am glad to have been raised in a family where women are treated with equal respects to men. In order to help individuals learn about topics regarding sexuality, it should be taught from different perspectives because religious groups tend to teach a one-sided perspective on these subjects. Individuals should learn to accept others for who they are instead of thinking it violates or loses cultural identity.

Question: What are some of the major benefits that can arise from Asian parents talking about sexuality to their children?
