I read the article “Teaching Justice and Living Peace: Body, Sexuality, and Religious Education in Asian-American Communities.” I resonate with this article in regards to people feeling conservative with this topic and slightly scared of change. However, it is an issue that needs to be talked about. I feel like the topic of sexuality has been coming up in many places lately, such as readings, television, and even in the Davis community. I am a part of a Filipino-American organization on campus and we have been deliberating on the use of “Pilipinx” as opposed to “Pilipino”. The reason behind the “x” is that it can be used as a variable letter for those who do not identify as either male or female. Its purpose is to promote gender inclusiveness within our organization so that we can welcome members of all backgrounds. Coming from San Francisco, the topic of sexuality was never an abnormal thing for me because of how liberal and diverse the city is, but coming to college I see where everyone is coming from and the different backgrounds we have. I think sexuality is a good topic to be talked about just because it has been popping up all over the news and other media recently.

What happens if we just ignore the topic of sexuality?
