Week 9
On this week’s reading, I find an interesting article Does Tiger Parenting Exist. The author Kim gives the idea Asian tiger parents let their kids to learn either violin or piano, sign up for AP classes and even declaring their kids’ major. It is not a good thing for kids because they need freedom to choose whatever they want. However, is Asian tiger parents that bad? I have a different idea.

For example, in order to be a pianist, you need to learn how to play piano in very young age, like 3 or 4. It is hard to tell that if the kids have the ability to starting thinking about their interests. Many of my friends told me that they feel upset about did not learn piano or give up in young age. Tiger parents are not that bad, the only problem is the level of helping. Don't make the helping become mandatory.

So the question comes out: Can we help parents and kid to communicate enough so that mandatory will not happen?
