The article by Hamamoto, “The Dream is Over : Lenono and the Death of the Asian American Movement” was really surprising in that I did not know how the U.S. government targeted and spied on many well known musicians from fear of the messages that they were spreading. I was really surprised to read about the fact that Yoko Ono used John Lennon’s fame as a way to spread awareness about political beliefs and gain supporters. The fact that during the Vietnam War the U.S. government had snitches and created target assassinations towards people who would are against their political beliefs was very alarming in that people are fearful of their life. I was also surprised how Ono and Lennon helped start the movements of Asian American political activists being more aware and voicing out their beliefs. I believe that many people are unaware of the fact that the government keeps track of very well known artists and can affect what they publicize to their supporters in fear, which is a lot alike ethnic study teachers self-regulating themselves.

Question: How does the government keep target many mainstream artists and kind of regulate them without a big awareness from their supporters?
