"Teaching Justice and Leaving Peace: Body, Sexuality, and Religious Education in Asian-American Communities" was quite an informative piece by being unique in its inquiry while shedding light on a difficult topic for Asian American communities.  This article opened my eyes to the reasons why I do not see sexuality as prevalent in Asian American communities, while being surrounded by "Western decadence".  Asian Americans are uncomfortable speaking about their sexuality as a way to save face, as being a homosexual can be deemed shameful.  I disagree with the way in which Asian cultures implicitly shame individuals for their own ideals; however, one must respect the traditional values which are placed upon those same peoples.

The perception of women in traditional Asian culture plays an integral role in why they are perceived and are expected to obey a male's orders.  Western peoples may see this treatment as appalling, yet many Westerners fail to remember that even the Greeks believed that society is unequal when discussing the degree of necessity of certain body parts.

Why are women Asian women depicted as being over-sexual in Western culture when many traditional Asian communities feel such shame towards such an endeavor?

Many Asian traditional values come from Confucius (above) and his teachings
