In "Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior" by Amy Chua, the author describes her experiences and views on being a rigorous Chinese mother. It was interesting to read about raising children from the strict Chinese mother's point of view because even thought my parents are Asian, they don't carry the stereotypical "Tiger mom" tendencies and actually give me some freedom of choice. One thing that stuck with me from the article was when Chua said that Chinese parents assume strength in their children while Westerners assume fragility. Reading from this point of view as opposed to the Western parents' really made me think about what Professor Valverde mentioned in lecture about this generation being coddled too much. Even though "Tiger moms" may sometimes be too hard on their children (in my opinion), it is evident that culture clashes between Asians and Westerners have resulted in the formation of the "Tiger mom" stereotype; in reality, it is just a matter of two different parenting styles.

Question:  Is there a line that "'Tiger moms'/strict Asian parents" cross in being too hard on their children?
