The Dream Is Over:
Lenono and the Death of the Asian American Movement, has compelling
evidence that convinces me that the musician, John Lennon, was targeted for
assassination rather than killed by a fan. It is easy for the U.S. government
to rid of anyone they do not like then cover it up so that the public are
unaware of their own government’s intentions thus keeping the people silent. Perhaps
the reason why the U.S. has so many pop artists today who they have not
disposed of is because pop music and the artists behind the music do not challenge
the government and do not invoke listeners into thinking about doing so. This
led me to think that the government’s silencing is not restricted to the music
industry, but includes television and movie industries as well. Because there
exists celebrities in these industries who can easily influence the public due
to their fame and popularity, it is expected that they be monitored or even
controlled by the government. What will be the future of these industries? Will
our government manipulate these industries to become media for distraction from
politics and keep the public from knowing about the truth or is this already
occurring?
