Individuals have preconceived notions of what they believe someone else's culture to be like. However, they do not truly know until they, themselves, have experienced it. Asian mothers are supposed to be "Tiger Moms," but that's what people outside have come to call them. To those who have them, they are just called mom. Stereotypes harm because they are labels and ideas that give outsiders, who are not part of the group, some kind of idea of what something is. They fail to see the reality that there is a difference in culture and experience. One basic idea of a group has lead to genocides and mass takeovers because people fail to realize that there are different ways of doing things, like raising children, than what they are used to.
