A Man with a Heart
Among all the readings for week 8, the self-telling article “A Man with a Heart” by Andre Thi caught my most attention. In this article, the author illustrates his life-time experience, from his youth to high school and college as well as to the time when he was in the prison. I am deeply interested in reading through the different perspectives which Andrew possessed throughout young age and as he became mature. He changed from a trouble maker and misbehaved adolescence stealing cars and computer parts and violating the law to a real man who truly appreciates his life and his beloved family members. Meanwhile, the experience of Andrew Thi reminds me of the documentary called “the sentenced home” which we watched in the lecture. I personally think it is rather unfair for these people to be sentenced to deportation because of the crime they committed a long time ago, when was the time they were still immature and felt difficult to differentiate right from wrong. When such laws are centered on People of color, they are even more controversial.  Thus, government official should reconsider these laws and make some positive changes in the near future.

Question: What were the purposes for these deportation laws to exist initially?
