In the article, “I am a man with a heart”, the author,
Andrew Thi, talks about his life story, from his family immigrating to U.S to being
released from prison. After reading his story, I was disappointed to see that
Andrew did so many bad things, such as shoplifting and stealing cars when he
was a teenager while he did really great job at school. A smart kid degenerated
into immorality. As he said, his
family moved to U.S in order to give him a better education. However, although
he got good grades at school and took part in Standford Youth Science Medical
Program, he obviously did not cherish the opportunity. Perhaps he was
influenced by the environment where he lived because most his friends never
graduated from high school. Or he stole just for making money for family.
Whatever the reasons, he chose a dark road and then suffered from it for long
years. I can’t say he is a really bad person because from his words, he has been
felt really guilty. However, I think it takes too long for him to realize his
badness and turn his life around through believing in God. I was wondering if
his family being more strict to him or he involved in more positive activities
at school, is his life going to be different.
Question: What
factors make Thi keep making poor choices in his life?
