Tien Hao Lee, Week 9 Blog, Asa 002

The article "Kim Does tiger parenting Exist" is very interesting. I can confirm that tiger parenting does exist in Asian American families. When i was little, getting an A in classes was always a priority before anything else. I would be pressure into studying hard and live up to my parent's expectation. When the expectation is not met, punishment such as no video game or allowance would happen. I was also taught with the mindset that academic first. Asian American families are extremely academic oriented. Sometimes academic is not enough, children will be force into extracurricular such as piano and other music instruments. Even though i grew up with parents pressuring me all the time, but i do not regret it. I understand that academic will bring a brighter future. Working hard right now because i would not have to work hard at the old age. This is a very important mindset that Asian American holds, because other minorities tend to enjoy the present but fail to plan for their future.
