In the reading, “Hamamoto Servitors of Empire Mineta” the author compared the 9/11 incident and how it would affect a large population of the Arabs and Muslim community to the internments of Japanese Americans in WWII. America does not want to repeat the same mistakes, instead they should learn from it and move pass the post racial society. However, racism still occurs in present time, it is a consequence of the melting pot and assimilation of Americans and that was inevitable. Not only do minorities face racial discrimination in America, but many people are also ignorant of other cultures simply because they never took ethnic studies or ways to educate themselves about other cultures. By appointing Mineta a high political position put him as a face for the Asian American community and to reassure minority that he is actually there for the people. He was a figure to distract the people of the government’s true intentions and subjugating to another era of racism attacks on another ethnic group. Of course Muslims would face more suspicions thru TSA compared to other group of people.
