Differences between Vietnamese communities

Reading this article made me realize that the reason most of my family lean towards conservative thinking is because of how they were raised in Vietnam and their perspective on how a government should be. Although we are not a fully Vietnamese family, simply being refugees of the Vietnam war made them cautious towards big government and an anti government mentality that formed from their experiences. My dad for example, opposes many government rules and regulation of businesses and especially with how the US has handled the chaos in the Middle East. However, even with my family leaning to the right, I find myself leaning closer to the left and away from pro business agendas. The environment in which we live in and the experiences we have gone through really affect how we see the world.
