The reading on “So our History Doesn’t Become Your Future: Local and Global Politics of Coalition Building” by Naber was really interesting to me because I was unaware that Asian and Pacific Islander groups were affected also. I thought that smaller minority groups were getting more attention and finding ways to gain power but this reading showed me how although issues are brought up in public most are taken over by white supremacists, which does not give minorities their own power. I was also surprised to find out that the airport security increased towards the Philippines because the United States believed they were aiding the terrorists. I think that even though we are supposed to learn from our history, the U.S. keeps repeating itself in targeting specific racial groups. I believe that in ethnic groups fight against the United States in being truly seen as an American, we need to use our power and numbers that we have to bring more awareness to the issues at hand.

Question: Would the world be different today if the United States stopped repeating history toward ethnic groups like what they did to immigrants from the Middle East and Japanese Americans during WWII?
