The article contains many accounts describing different murders. Although they are different scenarios, a common theme they share is that they are war veterans. Many veterans suffer of post-traumatic stress disorder and not only does it affect themselves, but others around them. For example, the story with Ramirez describes that his cousin Miguel was a war veteran and used to show him obscene pictures of women when Ramirez was only a child and he was also a very violent person.  Through Miguel’s influence, Ramirez became the person he was as an adult. I believe that this is a serious issue and more people need to take mental illnesses seriously. Many of these war veterans served in the Vietnam war and took advantage of the Asian American women they met while serving. Violence, specifically against Asian American women, has been going on for quite a while and still occurs today in other forms.

What are steps we can take to prevent acts of violence specifically against Asian American women?
