This whole idea of the "terrorist monster" is a way to use hegemony to back up the fact that we still need to be in the Middle East.  This monster can take on many forms and can be formed from a lot of reasons but I think how we portray this terrorist monster here in America is a way to justify the fact that we keep trying to find terrorists in the Middle East.  If "war means peace" is the justification then we are using hegemony to get the public's support.  When the US was attacked on 9/11, this "terrorist monster" grew and grew bigger than ever before, thus causing all of these implications on all Muslims, assuming that they are all bad.  This negative connotation just adds to the mind of the "terrorist monster" and  "bad people can't be recognized on sight" so people assume all Muslims are bad Muslims.  If all of this adds to the patriotism of the terrorists mind, then I think that they will continue to do the bad things because they know that they will be recognized for it.  They want to be recognized for their actions and ideas.

Would these negative stereotypes on all Muslims have an affect on the psyche on the Muslim Population?
