"Monster, Terrorist, Fag: The War on Terrorism and the Production of Docile Patriots" struck me as a very informative and eye opening reading.  The greatest shock which questioned my perception about terrorists was front and center when the author was discussing the prevalent connection between the terrorist and one's sexuality. Prior to the reading I had no knowledge of a connection between the LGBTQ community and terrorism.  The days after 9/11 found society taking the "you're either with us or against us" mentality.  The fact that the author introduced the obscene images of Osama bin Laden within the US demonstrated that the American public saw any other ideologies aside from their own as inferior.  After the author opened my eyes to our extreme lack of knowledge about terrorism, I firmly believe that as a species we must educate ourselves further upon the topic.

There is only one way to combat terrorism throughout the world.  That one method is through containment because there is no reality in which terrorism does not exist due to humankind's own selfishness and stubbornness. The question then becomes, "Why must the US government infringe on civil liberties to pursue an unobtainable goal?
