Blog week 5
This
week I decided to blog about the article “Empire of Death and the Plague of
Civic Violence” which describes the types of killers he believes are found in
mass murders. Reading this piece was very troubling especially when the
descriptions of the enjoyment the killers achieved. All the mass murders were
linked back to something deeply rooted in them such as racism, a troubled
military service, male abuse, etc. The most common root between all mentioned
killers were a prior military experience that had a difficult transition to civilian
life. Transition from military service to civilian life is known to be very
difficult for some service members which has created the development for many
programs to help adapting back to normal everyday life. My question is whether or not there is a
correlation between the number of crimes caused by ex-military and enrollment
of soldiers into these programs.
