What Is it about Terrorism?
It
was interesting reading the different reasons that influence why an individual
might become a terrorist with the authors having listed childhood experience
and loyalty to one's nation as possible contributions. I found this interesting
because I think a lot of times when a major and unexpected event, like 9/11,
occurs many immediately only think about what happened and not necessarily the
reasoning behind why the event happened. To know that there has been research
done on why some resort to being terrorists is fascinating in that it not only
helps people better understand why these terrorists might have done the things
they did but could also be used as a way to find possible solutions that can be
implemented to make sure the amount of tragic events committed by these
terrorists decrease or the amount of terrorists in general lower. I also think
it's interesting how in the U.S., to us ISIS would be an example of terrorists
but to ISIS, the U.S. military could be seen as terrorists to them. This just
proves that there are many different perspectives when it comes to terrorism
and how we all view things differently.
Question: Terrorists
are seen as evil monsters. Will they always be seen as monsters or will there
be a time where they are depicted not as negatively?
