In the past
couple of years, America has slowly been evolving in terms of sexual
orientation. Before, people who considered themselves to be homosexual were
perceived negatively, and there was no sense of a support system for them. But
now, America has come to accept that people should never be judged of their
sexuality. This is a big stepping-stone for America, but of course there are a
few who will still make snide comments from afar. This week I read, “Monster,
Terrorist, Fag: The War on Terrorism,” and it briefly talks about how sexuality
is central to the creation of our knowledge of terrorism. An analysis was made
about the monstrosity within the broader history of sexuality, such as the acts
of Osama bin Laden. In my opinion, I feel that sexuality should never be
compared to something so cruel as to terrorism. Sexuality does not determine
the cruel acts of a person. From this article, I am also hoping this won’t make
minorities be perceived in a bad light because of one person’s wrong act.
