According to the article, mass murder is
predominantly white (70%) and male (95%) and this issue is growing to this day.
But the thing that stuck out to the most is how much of a privilege it is to be
white. The majority of mass murders during the time were white males and yet
these murders keep happening, Dahmer used his “racial power” to oppress and
dominate men of color. And the thing with that is that it works, being white
gave him the power to harm other people without much of a glance while people
of color will be searched regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity. In recent news, a police man was recorded
throwing a 12 year old African American girl against his squad car for a minor
incident of pool rules. The thing that throws me off the most is that the
problem was that one of the kids didn’t have swimming trunks and then supposedly
“resisting arrest.” There’s obvious a problem that’s been so deeply ingrained
into our society and justice system that it’s almost become second nature for
folks to treat people of color this badly over such small issues.
Question: What is the problem within our justice
system that they’re capable of physically tossing a 12 year old child against a
car hood and how can we address that?
