These are my opinions after reading "Saigon to Baghdad" by Priest. People today question "was it necessary for the United States to enter the Vietnam War?" Vietnam War, just like Korean War, left many pain, death, agony, and nightmares. Many veterans came back home with injuries, terrible memories, and post-war syndrome. The United States back then were still eager to send troops to Vietnam because they were afraid that Vietnam would become a communist nation. Regardless, America failed and was defeated by Vietcong. But when I think about it now America was trying its best to keep communism out of Asia and stop communism from spreading; it was kind of inevitable. What about other wars America is in right now? Was/ is it truly reasonable for America to invade Iraq? I wanted to think about moral stance, not political stance. Is it worth killing and injuring hundreds of American young men and women? What about innocent residents in Iraq who were sacrificed by this war?
Question: Is America truly providing "liberty" to the people by fighting oversea?
