Yes, Ferguson matters.

But it's not the only thing that matters to Asian Americans.

Yes, that's UC Davis.

The article starts off by clarifying that Asian American and Black struggle are not one and the same. The writer confesses that he is "not public enemy number one in the ongoing US domestic war over power and resources..." (2). This distinction is important, but there's also a similar theme to both Korean and Black struggle, and that is "resistance".

There are two points that trigger the need for Asian American/Korean resistance. First, it is rage from oppression and war faced by Asians/Asian Americans. Secondly, it is invisibility of Asian death. I agree with the writer that Ferguson is important to Asian Americans, and we should actively participate in resistance. I do wish that other communities can also recognize why. Having been in multi-ethnic organizing spaces at universities, often I feel the narratives and reasons for Asian American resistance is ignored.

My question is: Even if anti-AAPI histories are ignored, should we continue to fight?

Yes, Asian Americans have a responsibility to join the fight because anti-Blackness is very pervasive and relevant to our own internal struggles.
