Empire of Death and the Plague of Civic Violence

In this article I found there to be a lot more to the sociology and psychology of killers.  It was mentioned in the article about how these killings are a part of sociocultural evolution, but I also found it interesting that the type of killings have evolved too.  The article mentions several types of killing methods and how this increase of killings may have been due to the wartime killings in Vietnam and that effect on soldiers took its toll when they came back to America.  This correlation means that war can cause psychological tolls on soldiers overseas, so much so that they would relieve their PTSD into violent acts like those that they may have committed back on tour. This idea of "blowback" is an interesting point to bring up because it shows the downsides to some of our imperialism done in the past.  The fact that people use Asian Americans, specifically women, to fulfill their imaginations is scary to think about because some of these men are those that have served in the military and we think highly of those that serve that it becomes unsettling to know some of the crimes that they commit as well.
If the Vietnam War was said to cause an increase in violent crimes in the post war society, what could be a cause that has caused the increase in violent crimes today?
