As an Asian American reading the
article, “Fight the Tower,” I can relate with much of the content even though I
am not a woman. I can attest to the
idea,“[we] are perceived as easy targets for discrimination.” Since Asians are portrayed
in media as impotent and submissive, it is commonly assumed that all Asians act
in this manner and therefore are easy to take advantage of. We have no voice.
We are the model minority. We are here to assimilate and succeed and cause no
trouble. But if we continue to hide behind this curtain of complacency and
conformity and are too afraid to have a voice, how can we expect change? If we
are to alleviate this struggle of inequality and injustice, we must unite
together to fight this battle. Have a
voice. Don’t be afraid to stand up for what is right. Too many times we are too
afraid of the consequences to speak up. To fight the tower all it takes is a
little push.
