Blog 1 | C. Nguyen (Section 1)

I find the concept of ethnic enclaves extremely interesting considering that there are some ethnic enclaves that alienate members from the same communities due to differing ideologies. The Vietnamese community in Orange County has been notorious for threatening and protesting against (sometimes by violent means) members of the Vietnamese-Am. community who are Ho Chi Minh followers. There have been rallies in the past that have resulted in the exile of a community member. I wonder if these issues exist in other ethnic enclaves and if the inclusivity is as intense as the one I've mentioned. Another thing I am curious about is whether these enclaves have the same cross-community backing like the I-Hotel movement did? And if not, why?

Q: Are youths or older community members more likely to head movements to preserve ethnic enclaves?
