Week 2 Blog
For this
week’s readings, I noticed a common theme, people fighting for their
educational rights. Out of all of them, I especially enjoyed reading about the
Berkeley Free Speech Movement because I got to see how people my age made an
impact on their community. This movement was the beginning of paving our way to
student activism; they showed an example to us that we can fight for what we
believe in. In today’s age, I have never felt an opportunity couldn’t be given
to me because of my ethnicity and reading their struggles about missed
opportunities has made me appreciate what they have done for me. Even for the adults, such as Professor
Valverde, encountered difficulty in holding a higher position in our education
system. Looking at the present, I definitely see a change in our world, and I
know it was all because people were willing to fight for our future.
Question: What could we do now that will pave the path for
future generations to come?
