I really like the article "From Saigon to Baghdad: The Vietnam Syndrome, the Iraq War and American Foreign Policy" by Andrew Preist. I totally agree with the author's idea of American only thinking about themselves. For example, in the Vietnam war, the only one suffer from Vietnam Syndrome isn't only the Americans. There are damages done by the American on the Vietnam society from imprisonment and torture. The resurrects memories of the Vietnam can happen to the Vietnamese people also. The American only focus on themselves rather than the whole picture. There are a lot of southeast asian immigrants who might also be Vietnam war victim. The government shows little or no support to those minorities. As for recent event, the Iraq war causes many damages on the local society, inserting fear into the Iraq common citizen. I hope in the future, Americans will take full responsibility to those war damage, supporting anyone (Whites and others) who suffers from war syndrome.
