women of color in academia manifesto

LITING XUAN
SECTION 2
WEEK 2

As we know, discrimination of women of color in society is still a real problem throughout the world, and women of color always have unfair rights and treatments. In the article Woman of Color in Academia Manifesto, the author points out that women of color are easy targets for discrimination and dismissal based on their gender, color, race, motherhood, ethnic group identification and so on. It means that people always judge a woman by her color, nationality, ethnicity... but not by the intelligence, ability, skill, and behavior. How could that be? How could they identify a woman just by her color or by her appearance? They do not even know her. This reminds me that some of my relatives cannot treat my African-American friends in the same way that they do to my Asian-American friends. They always consider them as bad people. This should be changed.

Question: how can we change such discrimination?
