Impact of Wen Ho Lee Case on Asian Americans

Section 1
Week 4

After reading “The Impact of Wen Ho Lee Case on Asian Americans”, I was extremely surprised to read about the FBI admitting to being taught to use racial profiling in their job. Wen Ho Lee’s case showed me that there is still discrimination in this society even though there is supposed to be equal rights and no segregation. After reading this piece of writing, I was a little frightened because I realized that no matter how Americanized an Asian American is, they can never pass through racial barriers because of their physical appearances and race. To a certain extent, the society will continue to discriminate other races such as Asian Americans and I think the reason for this is because of the competition to become the best and most powerful. In this reading, Wen Ho Lee was accused of giving information on nuclear bombs to China and this became a huge issue because every country is fighting to be the most powerful in the world to this day. If people can just learn to live peacefully without having to compete all the time, then there wouldn't be such discrimination. The question for this reading is: Why are the FBI taught to use racial profiling and is it just?
