The Asian American Admissions Debate

Daniel Lum
Section 2
Week 3

Having race as a factor in admissions to top Universities is inefficient. The point of college is to educate the population and having some colleges that are considered to be more prestigious than others is also logical because it groups the more intelligent and hard working individuals together and this fact tell potential employers how productive the worker may be in the future. Obviously, this theory is not perfect but the general idea is true. If we cap the admissions of one race, then the true intelligence level of the college is actually not as high as it should be. This places inferior employees in jobs that should be going to more intelligent and hard working individuals. Outside of the fact that the admissions cap is morally wrong, it is also economically inefficient.

Will the racism in university admissions change in 50 years due to Asian-Americans integrating to american culture?
