Response #6 to Charles Doyle’s “The USA Patriot Act: A
Sketch”
While I do support the main intention of the Patriot Act,
which is to prevent attacks such as the 9/11 attack from occurring, I do find
it ridiculous that the government is allowed to enter people’s privacies, such
as looking through emails and listening to phone calls. It is simply not right
for others to invade people’s personal spaces, as it would make them really
uncomfortable. Such government actions would lead people to become paranoid in
their own personal lives. This situation is somewhat similar to George Orwell’s
novel 1984, where the government
watches every aspect of people’s lives. With the
Patriot Act, the United States of America is like the Paranoid States of
America.
Question: What can we do in order to let the government
become more aware of our paranoia due to the Patriot Act?
