This article mentioned two researchers, Amy Hsina and Yu Xieb, who were doing a survey of 5,000 U.S. students from Asian And white racial backgrounds. They were focusing their research on anything academically, for example, GPA, Test Scores, or Immigration Status, and the achievement gaps between Asian-American students and white counterparts.
Hsina, one of the researchers, claiming the reason why Asian-American has higher educational achievements nowadays is because Asian students exerting greater academic efforts and not to advantages in tested cognitive abilities or socil-demographics. The cultural differences and beliefs are also involved with them. But on the other hand, some of the Asian students were also raised by very strict Chinese immigrant parents, who demanded total respect and were very tough with their children. Getting an A- is unacceptable, for instance. And they also would not allow their children to do any sleepovers or have any boyfriends. In some cases, Asian-American students even outperform richr white students.
Question: Would the 'Tiger Mom' strategy work on students other than Asian-Americans?
