The Internet and Globalization of Cultures

Globalization of economy and communications is slowly breaking the boundaries of many cultures and countries. This is made more easier by the media and popular culture from other countries.  They start to blend in with and influence other cultures. I feel that we can get a good view of Korean culture and values, since having seen bits of the soap operas about Ancient Korea. Although I don’t watch or know much about Korean media and culture, it’s possible to understand and experience their culture through media and making friends with them. I know it’s possible since in my case, it’s with the Japanese culture. Especially when in today’s age where countries all over the globe are connected through the internet, new things that become popular and memes from other countries are spreading everywhere. New fads can come and go in a blink of an eye on the internet. Technology is helping cultures blend together and evolve at a faster pace than ever. If this keeps going on, one day, won’t all the cultures become one? And if so, would that be a good thing?
