Response 6: USA Patriot Act
After
the September 11th incident back in 2001, America has been in fear
of terrorist. Since then, the government has passed the Patriot Act that allows
the monitoring and tracking of communications in order to prevent any more
terrorist incidents. However, tracking
is a violation against freedom. People would have to censor or cut out their
assertions in order to avoid being detained. It also violates American rights
to privacy as the FBI admits to being able to view people through their
computer camera without turning on the recording light. This makes Americans
nothing more than property of the government since citizens are monitored. If the
Patriot Act was passed in 2001, how come there is no fight against this
restraining act even after a decade has passed?
