Based on the reading of Professor Valverde's "Fight the Tower: A Call to Action for Women of Color in Academia", it helped inform me how biased our education system is. For people like Professor Valverde, I give my utmost respect to because of the struggle they go through. People other than white or Caucasian already have a hard time succeeding because of typical stereotypes. Now accounting the fact of gender roles just makes it more difficult for colored women.

Many students today are paying a lot for education and not know how corrupted the education system is. I am proud of Professor Valverde to share her story about the battle for tenure because it will give insight for those that might be or will be in the same situation as her. We need people like her to speak up for what we believe in because a single voice can make a change for many others.
