The Persistence of Racial Profiling Against Groups of Asian-Americans

Vincent (Tuong Le)
Week 4 Response

While reading George Koo's response to the Wen Ho Lee case, I immediately thought about the racial profiling that occurred against Japanese-Americans following Pearl Harbor, and more recently, that which occurred against Middle-Eastern citizens following 9/11. A situation such as this forces me to realize that racial profiling still occurs against Asian-Americans despite the idea that Asians are the "model minority" and the myth that we have integrated into society. A point that he made which resonated with me is that Asian-Americans are not as quiet, docile, and passive as society likes to present them as. I feel that people suffering from this form of institutionalized racism need to stand together against such blatant displays of racism in order to fight against it.
