Response to "Berkeley Free Speech Movement: Paving the Way for Campus Activism"

The students at UC Berkeley in 1964 were able to create such a powerful campus movement to make their sit-in for free speech the "longest and largest single political demonstration of college students in American history." By learning about this movement, I was shocked to see that people our age were so passionate about change for the better. Usually, when riots or boycotts are started, they are by those who are of an older age than your average college student. To see this was incredibly powerful because it showed that no matter your age, it is possible to make a big difference. Comparing this movement to that of UC Davis's, the incident with pepper spray, we can see how even in this modern day, students are still utilizing their power and trying to make a difference in a positive and peaceful way. College students are stereo typically known for causing scenes while partying, but it is much more rare to see or hear of college students causing scenes for peaceful riots for various rights.

Question: Why don't universities include students' opinions in their decisions from the start?
