Response #4 - "A Tale of Two Campuses: Berkeley and Davis Respond To Occupy Movements"
Reading the article on the movements being held at UC Berkeley and UC Davis helps change my perspective on strikes. I would like to thank each one of the students who went on strike because I wouldn't have been able to do it. Having watched the films of these student protests, I wouldn't have been able to endure the excessive police brutalities and arrests. But seeing the results of the outcome must be satisfying and that motivates me into fighting for something I believe in. I think if all of the colleges would have worked together to protest against the budget cuts, it might have made a difference than having to solve it their own way. The protests were only able to help save certain courses such as ethnic studies and lower university fees for middle-income families. However, having solved a few problems, it causes to create more in the future. Every year the tuition keeps rising because of budget cuts and many students worry about not being able to pay off student loans or find a job after graduating. With the cooperation with all schools may make a difference.
As we saw in the films that student protests give the people what they want. Why doesn't everyone become involved with such a movement even if it involves them as well?
