In response to: “Asian American and Pacific Islanders in California: How Higher Education Diversity Benefit Our Communities”

The report mainly talks about how affirmative action can benefit both minority groups and higher education system. Affirmative action is designed to ensure qualified individuals from minority groups have equal access to opportunity; however, it is not only beneficial to the minority groups, but also it provides diversity to the society. Diversity is necessary to each of us, especially to college students, because it allows students to meet and study with people from different cultures, so that they can have a better understanding of other cultures from their own experiences and interaction with people from those cultures instead of gaining information from television or Internet. From my own experience, I agree the idea that diversity benefits the higher education system. Interacting with people from different cultures allows me learn more about the world and develops a broader view to different things.
