The College for Profits

The infamy of UC Davis has been sealed during the protests across all UC campuses on November 18, 2011 during the Occupy movement across the country. Although the movement was unsuccessful in setting and accomplishing goals, it served more as a foreshadowing of the growing class division between the rich and the poor. Public university tuition has been increasing over the years at alarming rates and the students nor faculty see any improvements from it. Despite increasing threats of budget cuts from the government which affects all the department budgets in all universities, school administrators see a similar trend of rising salaries. The size of the middle class is ever diminishing and the opportunities for going up the social and economic ladder are closing rapidly. Federal loans for education that can not be declared in bankruptcy are being made easier to obtain. In addition the electronic process of taking out federal loans has diminished the significance of the amount of money that are being loaned out. Young adults, specifically young adult minorities are most prone to being enslaved by debt from taking out federal education loans to go to college.

How can we educate the future generations about debt, money, and its significance before they are expected to go to college at 17-18?
