The concept is defined as the perception of the "impact and legacies" of the Vietnam War through literature. It is also perceived to be the impacts of the war on U.S Foreign Policy. Priest also analyzes the many ways that literature has perceived the Vietnam War. Scholars try to analyze and find reasoning behind the war and the traumatic effects it left on civilians. The Vietnam War has left a scar on American society affecting politics, culture, and the debate of the justified reason of the occurrence.
