Response #4 to “A Tale of Two Campuses: Berkeley and
Davis respond to Occupy movements”
When
I read this article, I was surprised that UC Berkeley and UC Davis responded to
the Occupy movements in completely different ways. UC Davis did not do a good
job of handling the issue that the students protested about, which was the
tuition increases. Instead of finding ways to resolve the problem like UC
Berkeley did, UC Davis just ignores the problem and instead complains about the
costs of clean up. The way in which the UC Davis administrators responded to
strike left the students unsatisfied, and the situation was no better than
before. It is ludicrous that the administrators just pushed the problem aside
as if they didn’t want to deal with it.
Question: Since the UC Davis administrators react to
the UC Davis Occupy Movement poorly, do you think that future Davis strikes
will be ineffective? Why or why not?
